Providing Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy to Black Youth.
“Black Wealth Seeds was founded on a simple yet powerful idea: to bridge the gap in financial education among Black youth.”
The Story of
Our Business Journey
Black Wealth Seeds provides entrepreneurship and financial literacy education to Black youth under the age of 18 to empower the next generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to innovate, create, and sustain generational wealth within the Black community.
Economic disparities continue to challenge our community so our journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to bridge the gap in financial education among Black youth. What started as a volunteer effort within a Toronto District School Board pilot program, quickly grew into a passionate mission.
Founded by Desiree Straker and Anu Oladele, Black Wealth Seeds initially served as a small initiative to empower Black youth through mentorship and skill-building in entrepreneurship. Witnessing the transformative impact firsthand, our founders envisioned a future where Black youth could easily access the tools and knowledge needed to achieve economic success and independence.
Our mission is to shape a generation equipped to innovate, create wealth, and drive positive change, ensuring a prosperous future for themselves and their communities. We believe that economic empowerment is key to creating lasting change, and that starts with educating our youth.
Join us in our mission to empower youth through entrepreneurship and financial literacy. Together, we can create a future where our youth not only dream big but have the tools to achieve those dreams.
